Volunteer Docents Needed
Event Starts: February 01, 2010
Douglas Jenkins is beginning a discussion with the
volunteer coordinator about training volunteer
docents who lead walking tours, and any other
interested volunteers (and maybe staff) about the
plants in the Lewis and Clark garden. He is making
the opportunity available to anyone in the Oregon
Chapter of the Lewis and Clark Trail Heritage
Foundation who might be willing and able to provide
such training.
Horticultural background is welcome, of course, but the main thrust of his inquiry is to look for background about how those plants were mentioned by Lewis and Clark, used by them, and even, if known, how the plants might have been used by early pioneers.
Volunteers will be trained in February at Grand Ronde on the Native American use of native plants in our area, so that kind of background is, at this time, less important, although welcome, of course.
Please contact him with your thoughts on the possibilities of helping with the history training needs of the Lewis and Clark Garden.
